Badly Drawn Boy is really just some guy named Damon Gough. He's British. He's low-key. He always wears a stocking cap. His music is pleasant and folky, but not in a granola way. He is the kind of songwriter who sounds like that guy, the one who sits and sings in your living room at all hours of the day. Quiet and uncomplicated, Gough's music bends and folds with the shifting moods on celebrated work such as BDB's 2000 debut, The Hour of Bewilderbeast, and Gough's film score for About a Boy. His latest record, One Plus One Is One, has been reasonably well-received, despite its happy-go-poppy edge, but there are still enough melancholy moments to keep veteran fans cooing in the corner.
