Barkley Place

No, Barkley Square isn't in London (the setting of Berkeley Square, which is pronounced Barkley, as every Nat King Cole fan knows). It's in Leawood. More precisely, it's in the Park Place Center at 117th Street and Nall. The grassy area is where, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Wednesdays, KC Organics holds its Fresh Market. The featured vendors sell organic produce, baked goods, meats, freshly cut flowers (from Flowers by Emily) and garden plants from Rosehill Gardens. To get youngsters in the growing spirit, the Fresh Market offers children's gardening classes, taught by members of the Rosehill Gardens staff, each Wednesday at 10 and 11 a.m.; the class fee is $5. Between the two class sessions, at 10:30, is a free "Storytime by DeDe" reading.
Wednesdays, 10 a.m.-2 p.m., 2010
