Beer Me in Westport

If you need a reason for heading out to the bar today, here's a good one: It's American Craft Beer Week, and the Foundry, McCoy's Public House and Beer Kitchen are holding their own celebration: BeerKC Craft Beer Week in Westport. Recently named one of Draft Magazine's top 100 beer bars in the United States, the Foundry (424 Westport Road, 816-960-0866) taps a keg of New Belgium's Ooh La La at 6 p.m. In addition to sampling that ale, which is brewed with raspberry juice, you get a New Belgium brewery glass to take home. Beer Kitchen (435 Westport Road, 816-389-4180) puts on a three-course beer-pairing dinner for $35. And McCoy's (4057 Pennsylvania, 816-960-0866) recently tapped its Maibock, a strong golden lager that's perfect for sipping on the bar's patio. All three spots also promise a few special casks and firkins (quarter barrels) for those willing to raise a glass to craft beer. Craft Beer Week continues through Sunday.
