Bells on bobtail

After scrounging for holiday bargains, nothing beats a relaxing ride in a horse-drawn carriage. Traditionally, the Plaza has been the place to go for that. But if you want to stay in the burbs, try Town Center Plaza (5000 West 119th Street in Leawood). Today from 1 to 5 p.m. is your last chance this season to pretend that it's 1885. Town Center may not be quite as postcard-ready as the Plaza, but it does offer many stores and restaurants. So load up the kids (or that cute brunette you've sort of been seeing) and leave the crowd behind at 5 miles per hour. All rides are free and begin on the north side of the shopping center in front of Keedo and Stride Rite. For more information, call 913-498-1111 or see towncenterplaza.net.
Sat., Dec. 20, 5-9 p.m., 2008
