Best Broadcast Team

FSN's Coverage of the Royals

Baseball's season is long, but it's even longer if your team is perpetually mediocre. An announcing team's challenge is to make the season feel shorter, entertaining fans in spite of the schedule's tedium. And Royals announcers must also be entertaining when the team is depressingly shoddy. KC's home team might be ending a spirit-killing 2009, but Fox Sports' KC broadcast team makes the Royals worth watching even when the team loses big. Even a blowout is hilarious with play-by-play man Ryan Lefebvre's wry, irreverent style — tweaking his broadcast partners, the players and even the fans. Frank White brings the perspective of a former Royals star but adds an affability not often displayed by former athletes on television. Joel Goldberg rounds out the broadcast with interviews and a good postgame show, all while dodging Lefebvre's barbs. Well done, gentlemen.
