Halfway through each noon hour, people gather at the Community of Christ Temple for a daily prayer for peace. It's a short service. It begins with some inspiring music that flows out of the temple's massive organ. Then a prayer leader steps to the pulpit and briefly describes a part of the world mired in war and encourages all to bow their heads and pray for that country. The service ends in another pillow of organ sounds that echoes against the high, spiraling ceiling, which seems to stretch off toward heaven itself.
