Jovana Mirabile

Gone are the days when you could catch Jovana Mirabile shopping for fabric on the Plaza. The 2007 graduate of St. Thomas Aquinas High School left in August to study at the Parsons School of Design in New York City. But we don't begrudge the glitzy little lady for leaving. "I've wanted to be a designer since I was 6 years old," Mirabile tells us via cell phone from a New York sidewalk. She started sketching in elementary school and was participating in local fashion shows by seventh grade. And everything that Mirabile learns in the heart of the fashion industry, she promises to bring back to the heartland. "Eventually," she says, "I want to own my own label and have boutiques around the country. And I'd definitely have the main, big boutique in Kansas City —'cause, you know, that's my home place." In the meantime, we can keep up with our favorite up-and-comer at jovanamirabile.com.
