Josi Lima

Unlike her near-namesake Jose Lima of the Kansas City Royals, Brazilian-born Kansas Jayhawk Josi Lima is having an outstanding year. The 6-foot senior earned Newcomer of the Year honors in 2002, when she also scored the first of her three All Big 12 mentions. In 2005, she might graduate to All-American status as her team contends for the national championship. A stopper on defense who demoralizes foes by blocking their best shots, Lima will retire as the Jayhawks' all-time leader in kills. Lima gets her senior-night sendoff on November 23 in Lawrence, when her squad hosts the nationally ranked Missouri Tigers in the showcase game on the women's sports fall calendar.
