Concerts on the Plaza
For sheer entertainment value, the Kemper Museum wins hands down. The art exhibitions are always free -- as are the "see and be seen" opening-night parties and the museum's many cultural events, ranging from the Sunday Cinema Series (the dates vary) to classical guitar concerts to preview performances of Late Night Theatre Shows, such as this month's one-night-only performance of Ron Megee's The Birds. Family events are free too, such as the "Fruit-Filled Festival" scheduled for Sunday, October 29. "The only things that involve taking out your wallet at the Kemper," says spokesperson Margaret Keogh, "are the gift shop and Cafe Sebastienne, which will also be open on Saturday nights starting November 4."
