Oklahoma Joe's BBQ

Whether we're leaving stragglers at the bottom of a Burger King bag or just not lovin' the heat-lamp scorched strips from McDonald's, we never finish our fries. Except when we're at Oklahoma Joe's. There, $1.95 buys us a fat bag overflowing with fries fresh from the fryer (no heat lamp), peppered with Oklahoma Joe's special seasoning. Owner Jeff Stehney says his secret is that the taters are double-fried. First they're fried for about three minutes, then they're refried for 45 seconds. Stehney won't reveal his secret ingredients, but it's a homemade concoction slathered on as soon as the spuds come out of the fryer. Whatever it is -- we taste a hint of barbecue seasoning -- we can't stop shoveling them in.
