The Root Beer Float Davey's Uptown Ramblers Club 3402 Main, 816-753-1909
Flash back to the first time your taste buds encountered the bitter elixir that is alcohol. For most people, that sense of revulsion fades with time, replaced by a fondness for the taste of fermented grain. But for a rare few, the instinct to spit it out, and quick, never goes away -- unless, of course, the beverage in question tastes like an ice-creamy dessert. Something like ... a rootbeer float! The night we discovered this beverage, thanks to a friend who spotted root-beer schnapps at the bar and thought to inquire about it, we were the happiest drunks on earth. Every sip of the concoction (made from root-beer schnapps, Barq's root beer, vodka and milk, in addition to secret ingredients we're not at liberty to divulge) was delicious. The route to drunkenness was painlessly tasty, topped with whipped cream in a frosted stein. But then again, bartender and owner Michelle Markowitz is famous for getting people drunk on normally harmless things, like fruit. If you are the designated driver, DO NOT eat any of the cherries in a Davey's mixed drink.
