His penetrating reports of civic malfunction are put together by a staff of nineteen. Every year Funkhouser's crew releases an in-depth analysis of the city's TIF program, and it's not always pretty -- developers too often have the upper hand in their dealings with the city. Funkhouser's inquiring minds have unearthed problems elsewhere around town, too. Their scathing study of the Liberty Memorial restoration provoked officials there to take out a full-page newspaper ad refuting his findings. Yeah. Like we believed them. Sorry, folks. We'll have to go with Funkhouser on that one.
