When it comes to happy hours, we've got one simple requirement: They have to last past 6 p.m. (Who can get off work before then?) Fortunately, Arun Thai Place's postwork drinkfest, which goes from 5 to 7 p.m., gives us enough time to indulge in its fantastic specials in a beautiful atmosphere that isn't too crowded, loud or smoky. Select drinks can be had for $3 to $5, including such exotic libations as Thai punch and the Bombay mango martini; appetizers such as chicken satay and meaty dumplings (topped with sprinkles of crunchy fried garlic) will set you back around $5. Best of all is the view through the bar's huge windows. Watching the sunset over downtown with a cold beer in hand definitely meets our definition of happy.
