Best Hotel Dining Room

OP1906 Bar & Grill

Johnson County hotels have never had a reputation for fine dining. But because the Sheraton Overland Park is part of that city's Convention Center complex, the Starwood Hotel chain decided to up the ante and give the game-themed OP1906 Bar & Grill a little more panache than its contemporaries in the area. The dining room is somewhat snazzier than its "bar & grill" suffix might indicate. Like most hotel restaurants, this one offers breakfast, lunch and dinner; the difference is that Starwood has given talented chef de cuisine Eric Carter and executive chef Scott Skomal the creative freedom to assemble an imaginative dinner menu, starting with the crab tater tots and invigorating French onion soup and including such unusual entrées as Kobe meatloaf, bison short ribs and Maine lobster potpie. OP1906 makes a positive impression on a business associate, a first date or those hard-to-please in-laws.
