Trip Fives
After a sudden leap in ambition and daring, Kansas City improv is no longer the refuge for people who think they're funny enough to be onstage but are too lazy to actually write something. The Trip Fives peddle the lightest, most inventive, flat-out funniest improv in town. Give Tim Lemke or Jared Brustad a simple suggestion, and they'll pound it, spin it, toss it back-and-forth, and eventually work it into something you've never seen before, something airborne, all without relying on cheap gags or stale pop-culture riffs. The ideas come first, then fizz into jokes -- not one of which is ever about something like Donald Trump's hair.
