Best Kansas Hippie Festival Band
Uncle Dirty Toes
When hippies gather in Kansas (which is more often than it might seem), Uncle Dirty Toes is sure to be nearby. The band plays all the festivals -- from Gaea Retreat Center, near Tonganoxie, Kansas, to the more secret affairs on private farmland near Lawrence. And it plays all the hippie favorites -- from Jefferson Airplane to Jethro Tull. With their long hair and loose, tie-died clothes, the grungy digits of Uncle Dirty Toes look as if they fell right off a photo of (the original) Woodstock. And this ain't no Buffy-Sainte-Marie-wanna-be-sitting-on-stool-strumming-a-guitar-and-whining-about-poor-Tibet hippie music. This is smoke-a-couple-whoopty-doos-and-get-up-and-shake-your-lumpy-rump hippie music. The Toes love it when you get up and shake it to their natty tunes, even if you're not wearing a stitch of natty clothes.
