When we go to other towns, countries, planets, etc., we can show the folks we encounter what's going on at home, thanks to OxBlood's First Blood, an all-exclusive compilation of the cream of the local scene. Also thanks to this label, founded boldly by music-industry victims Robert Moore (also a local DJ) and Meredith Hamilton (ex-drummer for Frogpond), new releases by two of our top local acts, American Catastrophe and Ghosty, have been sent out into the cosmos. Beyond proving once and for all, with documented evidence, that the scene here is worthy of outside attention, OxBlood has also fired up the nights for locals. Remember that two-night First Blood party at the Record Bar earlier this year? Yeah, we saw you there, too. We don't remember much, either. Awesome.
