Camp Naish Rimrock Trail

The Rimrock Trail is a unique, challenging 12-mile jaunt through oak, hickory and dogwood forests and over rolling hills. It rewards the hardy with lovely views of the Kaw River valley. To use the Camp Naish trail, hikers must obtain permission a few weeks ahead of time from the local Boy Scouts and check in with a ranger before they start. Hawks, owls, great blue heron, deer, raccoons and possums are common on the 850-acre tract. Limestone outcrops known as rimrocks give the trail its name. To get there, head west along the river on highway K-32 (Kaw Drive). At 121st Street, go north one mile to the camp entrance. The trail starts at Central Camp Nature Lodge. Be prepared: Weary hikers can't expect a troop of friendly little badge boys to show up with water, Neosporin and bandages.
