The new Plaza location for this Minneapolis-based chain is underground, with every inch of wall space crammed with photos, paintings, old record albums and geegaws like ceramic kittens, plaster Popes and porcelain puppies. Kids love the wild energy, the big, comfy booths, the chummy service and the over-the-top décor. (Just watching two nine-year-old girls giggle at a blue china boy peeing into a "fountain" can send a nearby table of adults into hysterics.) Buca di Beppo's menu is also kid-friendly -- the baseball-size meatballs are always a hit -- although be warned: The cheesy garlic bread is sprinkled with toasted garlic, which turns off some kids, and there's only one kind of salad dressing (Italian). But from toddler to teen, kids love the outlandishly large pizzas and desserts that are big enough for three. Birthdays are handled with noisy theatrics, even if there's not a complimentary bite of anything.
