Over the last decade, the number of all-night joints in Kansas City — not that there ever were that many — have dwindled down to a precious few. Conversely, the number of drinking establishments and nightclubs has increased. So where are all the hungry, well-oiled partygoers supposed to get a nosh after midnight? The newest entry into the late-night dining scene is the best: The Marquee Bar & Grill, located in the terrazzo-floored original lobby of the historic movie palace at 14th Street and Main. The newly renovated AMC Mainstreet is now a stylish multiplex, and the Marquee serves food until 3 a.m. on Friday and Saturday nights. The breakfast menu — not elaborate but tasty enough — comes out at about 10 p.m. on those nights. And unlike most diners, the Marquee serves booze (at least until last call) if you prefer a mimosa with your omelet and toast. But after midnight, a cup of coffee may be the best thing anyway.
