Peter Altman

When Peter Altman was tapped to fill George Keathley's shoes at Missouri Repertory Theatre, it sent the acting community into an uproar. Actors were worried about losing their income if Altman began casting from out of town (and those fears partly came true). But Altman's was a favorable debut nonetheless. The year's only misstep was a creaky Sisters Matsumoto; the other shows -- Machinal, Major Barbara, Blood Wedding and Company -- were all in their way remarkable and some more than that.
