The KC urbanite's shopping list includes limes, dryer sheets, energy drinks, pet food, toothpaste, wheat bread, a cold Chardonnay and a six-pack of the Boulevard seasonal. To avoid running all over the metro, an on-the-go shopper must be very resourceful or have already discovered the bounty to be had at Grand Slam. The place reopened in mid-April after the demolition of the previous location next door. The old spot was famous for jars of hot pickles and the colorful cast of ne'er-do-wells outside. Now, Grand Slam is brighter, cleaner and better stocked than ever. Need a bottle of Louis XIII? Here. A peach-flavored Swisher Sweet? Got it. A meatball sandwich on the way to work? Hook it up at Grand Slam. "It's like QuikTrip, but with a mom-and-pop vibe," says 26-year-old manager Chad Galloway.

Cosentino's has the same security and they are one of the nicest stores in KC. I think you overreacted because I go here all the time with no problem and I'm in a wheelchair alone- and at night. Packing or not, me nor my wheelchair friend have ever had a problem.
Yeah and be sure to "roll" into this place strapped or packing heat. There is an off duty police officer watching over the parking lot...Says a lot. I feel sorry for the "KC Urbanites" if this is their liquor destinaton. "Colorful cast of" non-do-wells still remain. Decent selection of beer and booze...Glad I made it back to the hotel alive and with my possessions.
