Last month, the Limited Liability Tour attempted to show the rest of the country what we already knew: Our region bubbles with undiscovered hip-hop greatness. The tour united four area showstoppers, underscoring the variety and artistry of these disparate talents. KC's Mac Lethal is a razor-tongued gunslinger with a flair for the outrageous; Approach is a honey-dipped Lawrence denizen with a lexicon of rap styles at his disposal; the members of optimistic Lawrence smart-hop trio Archetype could be called Peacenicks with Attitude; and Springfield wax spinner DJ P is master of the steel wheels. Limited Liability started out small -- a handful of spring dates that played to meager Midwestern crowds, culminating in a packed Bottleneck show. This fall, the package played sixteen coast-to-coast dates, including a stop at the prestigious Knitting Factory in New York City. LLT proved so popular the second time out that it's already slated for a third go-round next spring.
