The best milkshake in town isn't exactly a milkshake. It's a Foo's Concrete: vanilla custard blended with your choice of ingredients. Here's how we see it: If you have a hankerin' for ice cream, don't waste the calories on some basic shake. (Plus, if we're being honest, the triple-thick chocolate number at McDonald's is way tastier than the much-celebrated Winstead's standby.) Instead, head into this no-frills Brookside staple, where the only decorations are T-shirts in garish colors and handwritten signs posted on the walls -- and on the counter, the door and the water fountain. Best of all are the employees' suggestions for their favorite Concretes, taped to the wall next to the professionally printed menu and loaded up with ingredients such as coconut, almonds and anarchy. Evidence of anarchy in Brookside? That alone is reason to come to Foo's. We stay, however, for the Cookie Dough Crumble.
