Earlier this season, University of Missouri-Columbia quarterback Brad Smith literally went above and beyond the call of duty while single-handedly staging an upset against testy Middle Tennessee State. How? Down by 8 points and 73 yards from the end zone, Smith led the Tigers down the field by personally accounting for 74 yards of offense. Add to that a game-winning touchdown in overtime, and you understand why the record-setting sophomore wunderkind is hands-down the best thing that's ever happened to the Mizzou football program. Still, one of our favorite Smith performances actually came in a loss last season to third-ranked Oklahoma. Before the Sooners stole the game with a fake field goal, Smith rushed for 213 yards and passed for another 178. He wasn't perfect, throwing three interceptions along the way, but Smith's gutsy display put every Big 12 defensive coordinator on alert.
