Best Mullet (Female)

Krista Tatschl, KMBC Channel 9 News

The mullet is a thing of glory, an art form unto itself. First wildly popular in the '80s (think Mark Gubicza), the hairstyle has enjoyed a revival thanks to many Web sites and books devoted to classifying degrees of mulletude and the 'do's having begun showing up again on runway models -- both male and female -- at various haute couture fashion shows. Also known as the "business in front/party in back," the "Kentucky Waterfall," the "shlong (short/long)," and -- our personal favorite -- the "Missouri Compromise," the style may be so retro-riffic that it's cool. For this reason, we salute the rare public figures who are so coifed. Krista Tatschl of KMBC Channel 9 news has a lovely femullet; that, plus the perpetual scarf tied around her neck, makes her stand out in a field of blond helmet-heads. As for a runner-up, Peggy Breit's short ruffly cut gets our nod. Go, Channel 9 news team hair!
