The Gadjits

The Gadjits have come a long way in six years, from their early days as Operation Ivy-worshipping ska-pop sensations who opened their shows with a skankable version of the Inspector Gadget theme song to their present status as mature purveyors of power pop. Not that their old songs were bad -- gems such as "Sassy-induced Bulimia" and "Sweet Matilda" are still well worth shouting for -- but the new numbers are complex, tighter, and amazing in a concert setting. Actually, live is currently the only way to see these unreleased tunes, but the group's in-the-works studio effort, which promises to capture its infectious energy, ranks among the area's most anticipated albums.
