Best Neighborhood Bar: South

Bobby Baker's Lounge

Oh, Waldo, you're all grown-up now! With your two-story bars, annual pub crawls and wide-open garage doors, we can see how scrubbed-up and trendy you've become. We can even understand why many of those south of Brookside want you to be the other Westport. We applaud your endeavors, but please, don't change everything up. What do you say you leave Bobby Baker's the way it is? We like this dark, cozy lounge a little north of 75th Street on Wornall. It has comfy booths to hold our friends, and the stools have arms so that we can lean back and take a breather from our daily grind. We especially love to hide out during the day and suck down $1.50 domestic drafts, sometimes poured by Bobby Baker himself. It's inviting, usually quiet and hip in its own way. Not every bar needs the light from umpteen neon signs and the sound of young, shrieking women. So how 'bout it, Waldo?
