A good happy hour is a great thing. But at Jaywalkers, happy hour also involves a huge blue plastic cup. You buy it for $4, and then you get refills: $2 for domestics and $2.50 for imports or premium brews. We like to start with Free State's Copperhead Pale Ale (yeah, Free State on tap, in KC). After the second Copperhead, it's usually time to take the lead of scrubs-wearing drinkers at nearby tables and order food. (The KU Med types who frequent the place know something about using burgers to absorb beer.) Jaywalkers lets us build our own burgers, and we've struck gold with a pretzel-bun burger and Cajun tots, which really help soak up that third Free State. By then, our server is reminding us to write our names in marker on our blue cups. We notice that these big cups have been produced by the "KU Alumni Association," not exactly something Mizzou alums would probably enjoy drinking from. But, hey, we're a good block and a half into the Sunflower State and drinking Kansas' best beer. That calls for another Copperhead.
