Over months of missed opening dates, the Cashew was the bar equivalent of the cock tease, tormenting us with its cool-looking storefront at 20th Street and Grand. When it finally opened in May, the wait turned out to have been worthwhile. We love its huge, garage-style windows; its old-style décor; its array of artfully arranged liquor bottles above the bar; and the mere fact that it's drawing a huge crowd downtown. Though the place can sometimes be annoyingly packed, those garage-door windows and the airy, communal feel make us forgive the Cashew for its coy, non-opening ways.
