The hipsters shall inherit the Earth, and if the Record Bar is any indication of what they can accomplish with their Pall Mall-stained hands, then we're all for their future world domination. Under the auspices of local musicians Steve Tulipana and Shawn Sherrill, the Record Bar, which opened last October, has become a force in Kansas City's nightlife scene, thanks to the diverse mix of bands and DJs who regularly perform there. The music's the main attraction, but the fantastic staff and knowledgeable bartenders also play roles in its success, along with the bar's nonmusic activities (Trivia Clash, movie nights, the hosting of the ACLU2's '80s-themed fund-raiser, and our personal favorite hangover helper: the bartender's breakfast and Bloody Mary bar, which starts at 2 p.m. every Sunday). This revolution will be well-fortified, one spicy Bloody Mary at a time.
