The Foundry at McCoy's fits right into Westport — literally. Nestled between the Riot Room and McCoy's (through which there's an entrance), the newest bar in Kansas City's oldest entertainment district offers, from its generous patio, a great view of Westport Road and exudes the kind of originality expected in this part of town. Inside, the Foundry gives off a postmodern vibe. The décor: Jetsons futuristic. The music: sometimes all early-'00s alt-rock. The menu: loaded with kitschy quirk. Feeling snackish? Order up some red rockets (hand-battered li'l smokies) or pangalactic (read: deep dish) pizza to go with an exotic import brew, such as Samiclaus from Austria. The Foundry boasts more than 100 beers, including everything that's brewed next door at McCoy's. For those who like their drinks a little stronger, there's the Swingers Party section of the menu, featuring potent, fruity concoctions served in containers big enough to quench a whole table's thirst.
