It's rare to find a bar without any gimmicks — emo songbirds and karaoke nights seem to dominate the landscape for lushes. Fortunately, Rhythm and Booze opened last year and reminded everyone that it doesn't take servers in knee socks to stir up good times. The ultra-friendly, no-frills urban space offers some of the best bar food in the neighborhood, along with affordable nightly drink specials, including a $4 Grand Marnier on Tuesday and a $3.50 Jim Beam cocktail on Wednesday. "I want people to like this bar for what it is," says Mark Piatt, the service-industry veteran who co-owns the bar with his wife, Jenn. "I don't want to change the vibe." Prospective bars, take note: Keepin' it real keeps the customers coming.
