The Last of the V8's The Hurricane September 26, 2001
It's safe to say that frontman Ryan Mattes had consumed a beverage substantially more toxic than V-8 before taking the stage for one of The Hurricane's aptly named Hellbound Wednesday rock showcases. Mattes yanked a cable from the ceiling (much to the soundman's dismay), repeatedly dropped his mic on the floor, hung upside down from the rafters and kicked several beer bottles from the top of a speaker stack. He also mooned the audience, removed his shirt, writhed on the floor, ran through the crowd, recklessly swung his mic stand and simulated receiving fellatio from a fan. Oh, and by the way, The Last of the V8's shredded through its evil-hand-influenced selections ("In Cahoots With the Devil," "Rocket Ride Straight to Hell" and "Demon Machine" all made the set list) with impressive precision and unrivaled fury.
