Best Place to Be on the Fourth of July

Penn Valley Park

Politicians and bureaucrats can't stand the fact that we can buy big-time, hand-exploding firecrackers on both sides of the state line. Every year, they try to figure out a way to snuff our fiery patriotism. But we can always rest easy knowing that their worry-wart efforts are futile against tens of thousands of Kansas Citians determined to spray the sky with dazzling sparks. It's a sight we never like to miss, so every year we pack up our folding chairs and climb the hill at Penn Valley Park. We cop a seat near the Scout and watch the urban landscape boil over with psychedelic explosions.
