When it comes to dog toys, we have a conspiracy theory: Most pet-supply manufacturers purposely make flimsy dog toys designed to remain intact for only a few days before their heads spontaneously pop off, sending stuffing everywhere and requiring us to make another trip to the pet store to shell out another $10 to keep our best friend from eating the sofa. Can we prove it? No. But we have tested our theory by buying our dog small, ten-cent stuffed animals at garage sales. Yes, they last far longer than dog toys, at about a hundredth of the price. The problem is, dogs like dog toys better. Happily, Dressler's Dog Supplies offers a big selection of fun, weird and surprisingly durable dog toys, often for several bucks less than anything you'd find at your average chain pet store. For $2.75 you can buy a "Yapple" -- a green bouncing ball that looks like an apple. For just $3.25, you can buy funny pink fleece "men" labeled "The Mailman," "The Dog Catcher" or "The Ex." For $3.75, you can purchase a stuffed monkey's face that contains a bouncing ball. And neon hedgehogs that grunt
and squeak? A bark-gain at $5.95.
