Best Place to Climb the Walls
Ibex Climbing Gym Inc.
Nowhere is getting high as easy as it is at Ibex, an indoor climbing gym in Blue Springs that allows flatlanders to wall-crawl all year long without road-tripping to find peaks or freezing to death in winter. The gym has more than 65 routes plastered to 33-foot-high walls and can accommodate more than 20 climbers at a time. There's even a low-hung faux-rock area for that rising X Games sensation known as bouldering, a sport that's designed for rope-free, low-to-the-ground power moves. A trip to Ibex serves many needs. "For some it's a means to an end, training for immense climbs in the great mountain ranges. For others it's simply a good time, and something fun to do before going out afterward," says Jeremy Collins, vice president of the Kansas City Climbing Club. "Yeah, there are other places to get a pump in Kansas City, but Ibex is the nucleus."
