Best Place to Dust Off Your High School Spanish

Comedor Español

Hablas español? The Comedor Español conversation group meets the first martes of the month at various Spanish, Latin American and Mexican restaurants in the metro. Just like in Señora Westheimer's class in the days of ayer, there are all levels of skill and dedication. Expect to be initiated with "Yo soy John. Este es Bob. Como te llamas?" (At least no one will force you to adopt a fake Spanish moniker here.) Someone may even wail in English, "I'm sorry! I should have read my book again!" At the other end of the table are the sabelotodos, who practice their Spanish in the bathroom mirror and maybe even studied in Mexico on some sort of honors program. Bienvenidos a la clase, alumnos.
