In one Overland Park strip mall, a row of several foreign markets makes for especially cosmopolitan grocery shopping. Boasting an Indian market, a Latin market, two Asian markets and a Kosher grocer, this has to be one of the few strip malls where you can get banana leaves, sheep brain, 70-cent samosas, green salsa, coconut milk, mango purée, spicy chickpeas, pickled herring, matzo meal, schmaltz, Hello Kitty-shaped waffle makers, boxed coffee drinks, several varieties of pork rind and Persian cold-wax hair remover in one easy stop. Not that most people are looking for all of these items at once, but this is a haven for people who have grown up eating foods that simply aren't available in the generic Midwestern supermarket.
