Best Place to Jog

Budd Park

In midtown, parks with trails are usually packed. At Mill Creek Park, for example, joggers have to share the 1-mile trail with walkers, families with double-wide strollers, and bikers who whiz by dangerously close. But Budd Park, a pretty, 40-acre green space in Kansas City's historic northeast, has a pleasant, gently hilly trail that winds past trees, a ball field, a playground and a pool for three quarters of a mile. It's rarely crowded, with one or two walkers or joggers on the trail most mornings, and a few families and their dogs hanging out there on blankets in the evenings. And at the end of a run, joggers can cool down with a healthy frozen treat from the guy who sells fruity paletas out of a little cart in the park (see Goods & Services).

As long as you don't mind the drug addicts, prostitutes, drug dealers, and gang bangers that frequent the park it is a wonderful place to jog.
