Kansas City sports fans were facing another frustrating summer until the Wizards took on the burden of giving fans something to smile about. The local side took on Britain's vaunted Manchester United in the first game held at the newly renovated Arrowhead. Though the game served as preseason training for Man U, the squad vowed not to take the Wizards lightly. So when Wizards captain Davy Arnaud scored in the 11th minute, it was difficult to tell whose fans in the crowd of 52,000 were more stunned. The Wizards went on to a 2-1 victory, marking the only loss that United suffered during the team's four-match summer tour. Arnaud later summed up the awe: "Realistically, we would lose nine times out of 10," he said. "But today is a great day for soccer in Kansas City."
