Best Public Art Project

Avenue of the Arts

This summer's Avenue of the Arts project was everything next summer's controversial Cows on Parade project will not be -- thought-provoking, original artwork that generated well-deserved exposure for the local scene. From Dan Younger's large, colorful fiberglass spheres at 16th and Central to the oversize bras, briefs, and boxers that made up Ken Landauer's homage to the Folly Theater at 12th & Central, the Avenue of the Arts project generated plenty of discussion and challenged those who happened upon it -- which is exactly what public art is supposed to do.
