Vivien Jennings has become a major player in the book world. Along with partner Roger Doeren, she's brought numerous hot authors to town, earning a national reputation for attracting some of the biggest crowds in the country (a couple thousand people) to author events. Savvy publicists everywhere now know to put KC on the list for book tours. "Kansas City is a book town, a good book town," Jennings proclaims. "The audience is so intelligent, enthusiastic, cordial and friendly. The authors have a great experience here and tell other authors about it." Jennings works with local companies to sponsor the book signings and lets local organizations set up tables and hand out fliers to raise awareness of various topics. "It's very inclusive," says Jennings. "Anyone who calls can participate," provided that the organization's issues are somewhat related to the book being promoted.
