As dramatically depicted in the tragicomic tale of Dickie Roberts: Former Child Star, early life success can mean a tough path to maturity. Brandon, Zach and Adam Phillips spent their teen years on a wild ride with the ska-sparked Gadjits -- shooting fashion spreads for Rolling Stone, recording on punk's premier label, Epitaph -- before graduating to rootsier rock. After parting ways with RCA, the major label that almost released its 2003 EP, the group became Fulbrite for a show or two before settling on the Architects. Still building on its soul-rock foundation, the newly christened crew added former Anniversary member Adrienne Pope, the most vocally versatile of the five keyboardists the Phillips brothers have employed.
