The Grand Ballroom at Station Casino is the most intimate sports venue in Kansas City. There's literally not a bad seat in the house. It's dark and smoky, and the seats are crowded so close together, it's hard to move around. So when the action in the ring gets rolling and the crowd's intensity heightens, the whole place seems to come alive with primal, violent energy. Old ladies in the back row stand up and scream, "KILL HIM!" Cigar-smoking fat cats make bets with one another from their ringside seats, sometimes calling out their wagers loud enough for the boxers themselves to hear. The whole experience is utterly cathartic and refreshingly un-p.c.
