Best Royal Who's Not George Brett 

Carlos Beltran

With 22 home runs, 108 RBIs, and a .293 batting average, the Royals center fielder made quite an impression his first full season in '99. Not surprisingly, the native of Manati, Puerto Rico, was named American League Rookie of the Year. And hopefully, unlike the Royals' last Rookie of the Year, Bob "The Hammer" Hamelin, Beltran will actually stay up in the majors for more than a few seasons. --JN
