"It's Alive", Tech N9ne

After the prelude to this year's most slammin' single welcomes listeners to a "purgatory party," Tech N9ne opens the gates to Heaven, revamping D.O.C.'s classic "It's Funky Enough" over a thumping beat adrenalized by skittering drum-and-bass flourishes. Lyrically, "It's Alive" expresses Tech's relief at overcoming years of music-industry obstacles (been in the dark a minute/but now I made it through it) as well as celebrating hometown pride (Yo, we did it Kansas City/we did it!). Perhaps the finest ode to the area since Joe Turner belted out Kansas City, here I come, "It's Alive" should immediately replace The Scorpions' "Rock You Like A Hurricane" as Arrowhead Stadium's crowd-rousing anthem of choice.
