Kevin Kietzman, host of Between the Lines on WHB 810, had a good year. Last November, Sports Illustrated mentioned him in a roundup of the country's most significant sports-talk shows. Then, in March, his afternoon-drive rival, Kansas City Star columnist Jason Whitlock, pulled a Jack Paar and quit his own show on the air. Both occasions served to remind listeners of Kietzman's skill. No one in the electronic media has offered stronger commentary on the subject of the Chiefs' and Royals' stadiums. A Kansas State rooter, Kietzman put aside his pompoms and criticized the school's football program for offering a scholarship to a recruit convicted of manslaughter, forcing head coach Bill Snyder to scramble. (The scholarship was withdrawn.) With Danny Clinkscale at the second microphone, Kietzman rules the dial.
