The Sunday night doldrums don't have a fancy name, but maybe they should (Mondaydreadophobia?). Like remedying the winter blues by hunkering down in a tanning bed and fantasizing about running naked along a beach, the best cure for this malady is a mini-escape. Flipping on 89.3's new-age music program, Night Tides, is a much better way to spend a Sunday night than ironing Monday's work clothes or packing a brown-bag lunch. Host Renée Blanche's massage-oil voice transports listeners to another astral plane. A bubble bath, candles and incense make it even easier to float away on songs with really weird names, such as "Ulan Ude," by Tangerine Dream; "A Mhairead Og," by Alyth McCormack; or "Ho Ho Hotaru Koi II," by Mizuyo Komiya. We believe Blanche when she says the music "speaks to the heart in an atmosphere of joy and comfort."
