If you think French fries are as American as apple pie, then get a load of Marty's Bar-B-Q's unforgettable side item: sweet-potato fries. Added to the restaurant's menu about seven years ago by co-owner Nick Tamburello, these fries can be eaten with salt and barbecue sauce or Marty's sinfully sweet butter and brown sugar sauce. "They are one of our signature items," says Marty's co-owner Jean Tamburello, Nick's mother. "A lot of people don't like sweet potatoes, but, of course, I love sweet potatoes." And when they try these fries for the first time, most customers love them too (they're also available at Marty's BBQ Pit-Stop, 967 W. Liberty Drive in Liberty).
